SINOPSIS

This book has not been written to compete either with school-textbooks, neither with SPANISH GRAMMAR books of 500 or 800 pages, aimed at University students and teachers.

This is a work directed to students and/or teachers of Primary and Secondary schools who wish to have compiled in 1 volume the numerous RULES and EXCEPTIONS - concerning Morphology and Syntax - which are "scattered" along the more than eighty lessons that may include studies of Primary and Secondary courses.

Due to the book format and number of pages this GRAMMAR provides EASY handling.

The structure and summary tables will be EASY to understand and memorize.

Because of its 40 pages about "Special Difficulties", and its 33 models of IRREGULAR verbs, you had wished to have been able to consult it long ago.

Its "INDEX" General “50 CLUES” and Alphabetical will make searching EASY.

The INDEX entitled “50 STEPS” is for structuring the teaching in 50 progressive steps from minor to greater difficulty.

The information given in the ANNEX about SPAIN will be also very useful for you all.

V) In Spanish as in English, there are also VERBS which derive from ADJECTIVES

ADJETIVOS	VERBOS
CLEAR = claro – limpio – despejado	To CLEAR = aclarar – disipar
DARK = oscuro – negruzco – sombrío	To DARKEN = obscurecer
OWN = propio – mismo – de uno	To OWN = poseer – ser propietario

VI) English Language uses different VERBS than those used in Spanish:-

ESPAÑOL	INGLÉS
TOMAR una decisión = decidirse	MAKE a decision.
DAR un discurso.	MAKE a speech.
DAR una excusa = excusarse	MAKE an excuse.
ENCANTAR – ¡Me encantan las pizzas!	I LOVE pizzas!
TENER razón.	To BE right.
TOMAR = comer una pizza.	To HAVE a pizza.
TOMAR = beber una cerveza.	To HAVE a beer.
DESAYUNAR	To HAVE breakfast
ALMORZAR (comida al mediodía)	To HAVE lunch.
CENAR	To HAVE dinner.

VII) Other VERBS to have into good account are the following:-

HABLAR	To SPEAK – She SPEAKs Swedish.
CONVERSAR - hablar	To TALK–We were TALKING for 1 hour
PARLOTEAR – CHARLAR - hablar	To CHAT – She is very CHATTY.
DECIR – recitar – decir adiós	To SAY to.. (he said TO me – you – him)
“CONTAR” (decir – relatar - narrar)	To TELL (he told ME – her – us …)
CONTAR (1 – 2 - 3 - ...)	To COUNT – Count from 1 to 10!
VER	To SEE – I SAW her yesterday.
MIRAR	To LOOK at – Look at that picture.
OIR	To HEAR - He doesn’t HEAR well.
ESCUCHAR	To LISTEN to – Listen to this music.
